Don't worry, I discuss the Pixel 10 in this week's newsletter, despite being grumpy.
I had an idea for the newsletter this week that I think would have caused you all to squeal with glee. But alas, I broke up with my landlord! And that distracted me so much that I fell behind on everything else! It's a tale as old as time, both the one where I procrastinate and think that I can get everything done at lightning speed, and the one where someone with slight authority decides to be a mean bully.
Remember that office space I was renting? I wrote a few newsletters there. It turns out the building was sold to a new owner earlier this week, unbeknownst to me. I was working at the space on Wednesday, on this very newsletter and a few other assignments I have in the pipeline, when the new owner of the building came in with a contractor. They both completely ignored me and my presence as they proceeded to loudly lay out their plans to turn the warehouse into an event space. I asked them to take the conversation outside because I was in the middle of a thought, but the new owner of the building puffed up at my request instead. He then rudely quipped, "I'm the owner of this building now, and the contract you had with the other guy is null and void." This isn't true, but this is the last thing I need right now. The situation ultimately compromised my productivity, and I promptly moved most of my photo equipment out immediately afterwards. I don't need the space that badly! And I don't want to be in a space where I'm not wanted.
"Flo, why are you using your newsletter to complain about some guy being mean to you?" Because being mean and challenging is unnecessary in most situations. I wanted to take a moment to remind you all of that before you head into one of the last weekends before the summer starts feeling "over." This situation has left me feeling drained, to the point where I almost didn't have enough energy to complete the newsletter in time for my last-minute Warped-with-the-foldable affair. This is all because someone had to exert some silly authority over someone else in the moment.
The week was not light with news, despite my inability to keep up with it all. I wanted to touch on the rumored/revealed/alleged/nothing-is-in-stone-until-it-debuts Google Pixel 10. There are banners on the backend of the Google Store that are ready to go live when the phone debuts, along with a $50 off coupon if you decide to adopt it first thing. The photo clearly shows what appears to be a stark blue colorway for the Pixel 10. This is supposedly for the base model Pixel 10, while the others come in a silver-blue finish that's more grey than anything else.
There was brief chatter about limencello making its return. But like, despite all the rumors suggesting it's happening, nothing is set in stone until we see it for ourselves. Who knows anything until Google itself reveals the hardware? We do know through careful leaks that the Pixel Watch 4 will come in a bright, lime-yellow colorway to match a potential smartphone in the same shade. That's certainly fun during these dark and disturbing times, isn't it?
As for what's inside the Pixel 10, that's also up for debate until the full launch. The biggest reveal so far is that the Pixel 10 will likely have three cameras instead of two. The third lens could end up being a telephoto sensor to help the base model phone see more clearly, far and away. However, as reported, the phone may have worse sensors than the Pixel 9a, which raises questions about the sharpness of those images.
Enough about this phone. Like I said earlier, we're nearing the end of the summer vacation vibes, which means we'll be back into the doldrums of working through shorter days in no time. Go out and enjoy the sunlight. And be nice to people. It's like nothing your smartphone could ever replicate.
With everything coming up with the Pixel 10, it's no surprise that this week's show was all about what's to come. Jason, Ron, Huyen, and Mishaal recapped the most essential news earlier this week.
